Our DMV services are here to make your life much easier. We provide ATV Insurance and coverage for other OHVs. Additionally, we can take care of the registrations. What are Off-Highway vehicles? (OHVs) OHVs are motor vehicles that are exempt from registration, and operated exclusively off public roads and highways (excludes: fire trails, logging or service roads regardless of surface material, and roughly-graded trails). OHVs include, but are not limited to, motorcycles, motor-driven cycles, trail bikes, dune/sand buggies, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), jeeps, and snowmobiles.
Off-Highway Vehicles & ATV Insurance and Registration
Unless you register it for on-highway use, the DMV identifies it as an OHV. OHVs are vehicles such as racing motorcycles, trail bikes, mini bikes, dune buggies, all-terrain vehicles, jeeps, and snowmobiles. Nobody can drive these vehicles on public roads and highways. They do not require regular registration but must display an identification plate or device issued by DMV. It is not necessary to register a vehicle for both on-highway and off-highway use. Valid on–highway registration allows the vehicle to be operated on and off the highway. Vehicles registered for on-highway use only may be subject to a “use fee” if operated in OHV parks.
Do I Need an ID Plate?
OHVs display a DMV-issued ID plate. A new ID plate is issued every two years upon renewal of registration. Most off-road vehicles are built for adventure — whether you’re enjoying the trail on a snowmobile or hitting the apex on your dirt bike. But some “off-road” activities are a little more relaxed. You can also tailor each policy to your off-road needs with:
